22: Day 15/Oh, rain...

Date: 9/7/10
Town: Montréal, Québec
Time: 9.23pm
Timezone: GMT -04.00

Nothing much happened today. I made an awesome waffle stack at breakfast today but I didn't bring my camera, so you'll have to use your imagination. Lady in front of me took six waffles when I was going to get one so I took the last two packets of maple syrup. Mwahaha. Revenge is sweet. Tastes like maple syrup.
It was Rikki's birthday, and so we went out for a commemorative shop and wander around the city, and then decided to go back to the hotel for lunch. Then it rained till kingdom come and I reckon it was about Perth's annual rainfall in one afternoon over here. That said, it has been pretty darn humid for the last few days.
So we just hung out at the hotel all afternoon. Was really good.

We walked around a bit more. Found a statue of King Edward.

But the seagull shat on his head.

So there you have it, my friends. I'm sure this is a nice metaphoric tale for all of us.
Then we stayed in and watched Blindside on the hotel TV and Rikki had a very nice birthday.
Happy birthday Rikki!
Next stop, Québec city.
Blog ya later.

PS Emerson I have been trying so hard to find an Emerson, Emo, E-dog, Brophy, Bro, Bro-dog, B-Dog reference but I haven't found one yet. Will keep you posted.

21: Day 14/Magnifique!

Date: 8/7/10
Town: Montréal, Québec
Time: 10.00pm
Timezone: GMT -04.00

Okay so this morning we go down to breakfast of waffles and maple syrup. Mmmmm. Complimentary breakfast. Yum, yum, yum.
After that, we went shopping. Nothing much to speak of, I bought a pair of boots and we got a free bag for our trouble. Mmmm. Complimentary bag.
I can't say much about the shopping, really. Nothing majorly eventful happens, it's kind of repetitive.
So we move on to the photos of Montréal. Well. One photo.

And then we went ice skating. I am so in love with ice skating. It's amazingly fun. And all those years of rollerblading really helped. I should get back into blading. I forget how much fun it was.

Yeah, bitches. I can skate. I did not stack it once.
Mmmm. No ice burns.
And there's other photos but this is the only one where I look good. Even if I have got my thinking face on.
And then we went to this church thing. Technically, it's not actually a cathedral but it looks like one. It's called St. Joseph's Oratory of Mount Royal, or as the French say, Oratoire Saint-Joseph du Mont-Royal. Fancy shmancy.

This isn't a photo I took. Because it has all construction stuff and frames all over it, so my photos of the outside look terrible. I got this one from Wikipedia.

That's the view from the top, back down the stairs and the rest of Montréal. It was amazing inside as well, really awesome.

And there's the Jesus shop for all you hardcore Jesus fans. Wong, you know you want it.
After we saw the church we decided to go to the top of Mont-Royal. And it was an awesome view. But I didn't get any photos of the view. Wanna know why?
I saw a raccoon. And then accidentally dropped some of my ice cream on it. I think I might have made a raccoon ever so slightly addicted to chocolate, but it's alright. And the act of my dropping ice cream because I have problems with eating properly because I'm slightly demented consequentially made all the other raccoons from the raccoon clan come out to say hello.
There was ten or eleven of them, I think. They were epic cute. So that's all there is for today, just raccoons, raccoons and more raccoons. I just want to take one home. They look so cuddly. But apparently they have rabies, so you know.

Naww, baby raccoons.
Mmmm.Yum, yum, yum, complimentary raccoons.
Au revoir, mon cherie's.

20: Day 13/Bonjour Montreal

Date: 7/7/10
Town: Montréal, Québec
Time: 8.22pm
Timezone: GMT -04.00

We left Ottawa at about lunchtime, because the check out time was then and we wanted to spend all day in the cool, beautiful hotel room. Nicest hotel room so far, and we're only there for one night.
Gah.
Anyway. There was roadworks going on the 401 highway, so we did what any normal person would do and we took a detour to a local town for lunch. The town was Kingston, and I'm in love with it. It was so sweet. Ex-military base town, so it had all these cool old buildings and a really nice harbor.
And I have pictures!

And after that we arrived in Montréal. And the first shop we walked in, the guy says something in French really fast and I was just like.... "Oh."
GOOD ONE DARCIE.
But you get used to saying, "Hello," when they say, "Bonjour," because most of the time, the other person will be bilingual. The province of Québec is French-Canadian, and most people will speak French predominantly but also be fluent in English. Most of the street signs are French but you learn quick the signs, such as super sale which is super solde. That's always handy when shopping.
And I didn't get too many pictures of my first afternoon in Montréal because I thought my camera might melt. But I did get a photo of the carton of milk we got.
You may have seen this on my Facebook page already, but if not, then feast your eyes.

But take a closer look...

Das hilaris.
Goodnight, darlings.
