So this airport is currently screwing me over as far as blogging goes. I swear there is nowhere in this place to blog properly.
You see, I have some time to kill. Five hours to be exact. And I don't want to shop, my legs hurt so much. So I thought, instead of blogging later tonight when I'm in San Fransisco, how about blogging now as well as later? Because technically when I blog from America, it'll be Saturday already in Australia and you won't have a Friday blog. How can you survive an entire day without a blog? I asked myself, so thought I would do the right thing and blog.
Aha, no.
There's two ways to acess the internet here. Using one of the free crappy computers, or plugging in your own laptop and getting internet via optus or telstra. Unfortunately it's not free if you use your own, but with the free crappy computers, there's nowhere to load up my pictures because I don't think USBs existed when this baby was built.
I'm at the Qantas Club at the moment, Dad still has his card from when he used to work flying back and forth from Melbourne so we get some leftover benefits. Free breakfast, to be exact. I'm making the most of it, I've had raisin toast, banana bread, croissants, cheese, fruit salad and juice.
So, this is not the first official post. This is just an inbetweeny post, my letting you know what's going on and saying I miss you all and I hope you're having an awesome day.
I plan to document my adventures day by day so that will start tonight/tomorrow morning, depending on which end of the world you're at.
I love watching planes.
Next stop, San Fransisco.
Going to get more food now.
P.S my family is currently asleep on the couch in the lounge. I feel like taking photos.

3: To My Dear Perthlings.
Date: 24/6/2010
Time: 8.10pm
Town: Perth, WA
Timezone: GMT +08.00
Harrow! This is a quick little notice from my very tidy bedroom to the Perth people I am leaving behind and a few important things that would be worth knowing. I leave for the plane at about ten o'clock, but I have to pack my laptop relatively soon so I thought I'd better just leave one last shout out before I go travel around the universe as much as is humanely possible without a spacesuit.
This is the last post from Perth, I've done with the packing. The only thing is this simply enormous laptop that can only fit in the bag with much encouragement/brute force. Some bloke in a Tarago is coming to take us to the airport. He's a friend of a friend of Dad's who does taxi-stuff for families. Mum said, "He's one of Ted's associates" and I said, "I didn't know Ted was a part of the mafia."
Apparently mafia jokes aren't as funny as they used to be...?
So, just a few notes. Don't try to call me when I'm away, I've turned voice mail off because when you people leave voice mails it charges to my phone and it's something like 55c a minute from here to there, so don't call because I've disabled it all and you will just sit there like a bemused caterpillar, wondering why the phone has been ringing for ten minutes.
If you really want to contact me, leave comments on the blog, send me an email or send me a Facebook message. I won't be on Facebook too much because I'll be pretty busy but I'll check my messages and answer any questions on here in a collective sort of manner.
Text messages to Canada cost about 30c each so don't waste your money like that. It's highly unlikely I'll text back anyway... sorry.
Band peoples, if you have an idea for musical shenanigans send it to me and I'll do the same for you. You can't get rid of me, even when I'm 10000 km away. I am a ghost!
If the teachers ask where I am, tell them I'm aboard the Death Star. Either that or tell them I'm taking over the world using my Jedi Powers. Just make it generally star-wars related. Keep them on their toes, says I.
There's not much else to say, except that I'm leaving for San Fransisco via Sydney in two hours, so you guys have an awesome last week of school (if at all possible) and an even more aweomse (awesomer? gahh..) holidays.
I'm going to pretend I'm not going to miss you all like crazy.
Thanks for the notebook, Sammie, it will definitely come in handy :) Can you also email me any chemistry and maths homework we get? They're the only two textbooks I'm taking. Politics can be studied from a distance, and Literature can be read on planes.
Thanks for being such awesome Perthlings and I'll see you on my return.
I bid thee farewell.
Next stop, Sydney.
Two hours to go.

1: Home, Perth.
Date: 20/6/2010
Time: 8.38pm
Town: Perth, WA

This is (probably) not a blog about Darcie. I already have a blog about my own life, go read that if you'd rather read the ramblings of a silly teenager who has far too much spare time. (or not, suit yourself...) This is the blog where I write down my thoughts on the world (which, I might add, is a big scary place) and it's where I'm going to keep the memories that I might later on forget, so that I can always come back here and look at what I wrote, look at where I've been and remember what a great time I had. Or not, should the worst happen.
But let's stay positive, okay?
Last time I tried to keep a journal was when I went to New Zealand. Unfortunately, I was eleven at the time and had the attention span of a kitten on crack. Hopefully I can dedicate a little more of my time to this one, and take note of every part of my travels around the globe.
I'm finishing school next year and then I'll be stuck at university (or, if that plan fails, stuck working) and it's way too expensive to go more than once every eight years or so (that's a guesstimate...) so this is probably it. That's a sad thought, but soon I'll have my own life and I'll travel around more to all the places I won't have seen. This holiday is going to be amazing.
Next stop: Airport, 100 hours from now.
Flight leaves on the night of the 24th at Midnight.
(Sweet jumping crap, I am so excited.)
